SUNDAY SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
DEFINITION: Sunday school is the assembling of persons in an organized manner based according to ages or level of exposure for the sole aim of studying the word of God every Sunday morning.
Sunday school is an agent of the church in fulfilling the command of Jesus Christ “preach”, “teach”, and “disciple”. The Bible is the main textbook, and Sunday school lesson book as guide in the study.
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father, and the son, and the Holy Ghost.
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. Matt. 28:19–20.
Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needed not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth. 2Tim. 2:15.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:
1. To give knowledge and understanding of what the Bible Teachers – Matt. 28:19-20.
2. To lead people to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus – Rom. 10:8-9
3. To create Opportunities for service To God and humanity through developing them on Christian character and preparation for service – 2Pet. 3:18; 2Tim. 2:15.
RIVERS DISTRICT SUNDAY SCHOOL MISSION STATEMENT:
To maintain the mandate of the Lord Jesus by reaching out to the unsaved with the Gospel and the saved for service through information of the mind and transformation of the heart by the power of the Holy Spirit.
